"Heaven" - Words & music by Kenny Hogan

Here's the story of how this song came about:

I took a nap one Saturday afternoon and I had a strange vivid
dream.
I dreamed that I was floating up out of my body, up towards the
ceiling. I was hovering, looking down at my body which was still
in bed.
I was smiling and flying. It felt great. I liked it.
I discovered that if I tilted on a certain way I could fly in that
direction.

So I floated down the stairs while this strange music played in
the background.
I flew over my wife who was on the phone. She couldn't see me.
I floated into the living room where I saw my son playing. He
couldn't see me either.
I could fly, and I was invisible too!
I floated out the window, up the street a bit, and then drifted
slowly straight up into the sky, drifting towards heaven while my
body was still back in bed.
It was a great dream!
I woke up smiling with that strange music still in my head.

I walked downstairs and Katie was actually on the phone, and
Kenny was playing in the living room!

So I ran back upstairs, grabbed my guitar and mapped out the
chords to the song in my head.
I did a quick recording, added some vocals and a quick bass
line.
Then I took a shower and went to work.
Two years later I dug it out and recorded it. It took me two
weeks to record, working about 8 hours a day at overdubbing
all the parts.

Lyrics:

Take me to heaven,
Take me to heaven again,
Now that I've seen heaven,
I wanna go back again

I dreamed that I was flying,
Rising to the sky,
Up to where my soul  will live forever,
And my spirit will never die,

I wanna fly
Everything's gonna be alright,

There's a light that lives within us,
And it shines out from inside,
And as long as we keep it shinin'
Everything's gonna be alright,
For my Mother & Father Althea & Frank Hogan,
and for my brothers Donald, Paul & Walter
Hogan.
Shine on!
