Mister Sun (Rise & Shine) - by Kenny Hogan
© 2010 all rights reserved
Dear Mr. Sun,
Looks like it's rainin' again
And everyone is wonderin' where you've been,
The skies have been cold and gray,
The rain just won't go away,
We need you to come back today, Mr. Sun,
Come out Mr. Sun, yeah,
I'm asking this favor from you,
Won't you please give me one, sunny day,
I'm sowing the seeds of a new tune
It's just some kinda song and I don't know,
where it came from or how it'll go,
Some sunshine would help it to grow, so...
Rise and shine, and keep on shinin' Mister Sun,
Rise and shine, Rise and shine
Please Mr. Sun,
Please tell us where you have gone,
And what have we done,
to make you go away for so long?
We need you to rise and shine,
and clear all the clouds from our minds,
and bring back the sweet summertime,
Rise and shine, Keep on shinin' Mister Sun,
Rise and shine, Rise and shine
Solo
We need you to rise and shine,
and clear all the clouds from our minds,
and bring back the sweet summertime,
Rise and shine, Keep on shinin' Mister Sun,
Rise and shine, Rise and shine
Dear Mr. Sun, Where the hell are you? Enough is enough!
You've had a nice long vacation. Now get back to work.
Please report back to the Boston Office immediately.
We're about to lay off Mr. Gray and Mr. Drizzle and we could use your
help around here.
If you return today you can be a shining example to the rest of us who
frankly need a vacation ourselves.
Sincerely, The Boston Office

About This Song:
During the summer of 2009 it rained almost every day.
One dreary gray day I posted this message on Facebook, and
then I went for a walk in the woods.
The song's melody came to me as I slogged through the wet
leaves, and with that Facebook message still in my head, the 2
ideas merged, but I was so down about everything that I
dropped the song for a whole year.
This summer (2010) I picked up my Uke and it came back to
me. I finally got around to finishing it. I'm glad I did.
