Rainbow - words and music by Kenny Hogan

When I was a boy, life was so easy,
Never had to worry about tomorrow,
Always chasing rainbows,
Those days are gone now,
Now I can't escape from all my sorrow,

Rainbow, where did you go?
Why did you leave me,
when I needed you so?
Rainbow, how could you go,
leave me so lonely, and so all alone,
Rainbow...

Once my world was brighter,
warmer than summer,
You were like the sun after the rain goes
Now my world is darkness,
and the future looks colder,
You are gone and I'm lost without my rainbow

Rainbow, where did you go?
Why did you leave me,
when I needed you so?
Rainbow, how could you go,
leave me so lonely, and so all alone,
Rainbow...

when I think of how it used to be
I just can't believe you're gone
Sometimes I swear I feel you here with me
I don't know how to carry on,
now that my rainbow is gone

-solo-

Rainbow, where did you go?
How could you leave me,
when I needed you so?
Rainbow, how could you know,
you'd leave me so lonely, and so all alone,
Rainbow...

When I was a boy, life was so easy,
Never had to worry about tomorrow,
Rainbow...

About this song:

I wrote it when I was 16
years old, after my dad died.
I played it in 4 different
bands. In the mid 80's.
I went into a studio and
recorded it.
That version had strings
and horns and bells  and
synthesizers and pianos
and a giant "Phil Collins
style" drum sound.
(but that was the 80's)

I wanted to do a simple
stripped-down version.
I also added a the bridge
(or middle 8 section) after
my mother passed away.

For me, this is a very
personal song, but it's from
the heart, and I hope it
comforts anyone who's lost
someone they love.

Thanks for listening,
