The Uke Song
I went to Florida for a couple of weeks, just before Christmas, and I brought along my brand new ukulele. While I was gone, there was a nasty snowstorm in Boston followed by a dangerous ice storm. There I was sitting in the sun on a 75 degree day, with nothing to do, and all day to do it. So I took a walk around the lake and the golf course, and then I sat by the pool while this song came into my head. I took the elevator up to my room, had a cocktail, and sat on the balcony with my new uke and figured out the chords.
It was a beautiful day. (even though I felt a little bit guilty) So I called home where my wife was scraping her windshield and shoveling the driveway, and that gave me the second verse.
I had a lot of fun writing this song.

Beautiful day
Florida sky
I'm Watchin' the world passin' by high
song in my head
drink in my hand
feet in the sand
I'm a very happy man,
and I was thinkin' just maybe
I might play my ukulele in the sun,- (wish you were here)
Thinkin bout my baby, playin my ukulele in the sun - (wish you were here)
She's up there in Boston
with the rain and the snow and the ice,
and I really do miss her,
but I got to admit this is nice...
Cause it's abeautiful day,
sun beatin' down,
In Boston it's freezin', and there's snow on the ground,
So I was thinkin just maybe
I might play my ukulele in the sun, - ( wish you were here)
I ain't hurtin' no one
Thinkin' bout my baby, while I play my ukulele in the sun - ( wish you were here)
I ain't hurtin no one
felt a little bit guilty
I decided that I should call home
she was shovelin' the driveway
and I tried not to laugh when i hung up the phone
It was a beautiful day
the sun beatin' down
took a sip of my drink
took a good look around,
and I was thinkin just maybe
I might play my ukulele in the sun - (wish you were here)
I ain't hurtin no one
Thinkin bout my baby, while I play the ukulele in the sun - (wish you were here)
wish you were here,
glad I'm not there
wish you were here,
glad I'm not there...
Badapahdup....
