ORIGINAL SONGS BY KENNY HOGAN
|
LET'S GO! - An up-tempo Rock-A-Billy tune with horns.
I wanted to keep the lyrics as simple as possible.
I did the guitars, bass, drum parts, and vocals on this song.
The horns were played by Carl and Dave Ayotte "The Sibling Rivalry Horn section,"
- I can't thank them enough for their great sax work!.
FISHIN' HOLE- (A BLUES GUITAR BOOGIE)
Originally Fishin' Hole was a novelty song with filthy lyrics.
Somewhere along the line I decided to make it an instrumental instead. Now I can play it anywhere without offending anyone.
If you like rockin' blues guitars, this song is for you.
REAL GOOD DAY- This is a song I wrote one bright and sunny morning in Austin Texas. Contains Uke!
It was 6AM and the birds were singing, so I decided to put some birds in the recording.
I don't know how to classify it, except to say that its a happy song.
This one is for my brother Donald. Recently re-recorded with clarinet and ukulele added.
.
STARTIN' ALL OVER AGAIN - I wrote the 1st verse when I was 17 years old, sitting in a field at sundown.
I finished it 30 years later.
There's a lot of my life in this song, and it's also a kind of prayer.
.
I'LL BE THERE FOR YOU - An acoustic song featuring mandolin.
This one is for "Mini-Me." (my son Kenny)
Also dedicated to all parents who can relate to these lyrics.
Many thanks to Frank Sarcia for his fine percussion work.
I HATE EVERYBODY BUT YOU
A twisted little rock song.
(and NO, I don't hate everybody) The guy in the song does.
EVIL RAIN- This song features slide guitar. (my electric Frankendobro)
I'm also playing a Variax 12 string model on the left channel, (tuned to G) and Fender Jazz bass.
I wrote this one during a very dark time which I'm glad is over. Music always gets you through those tough times.
HEAVEN -
A song about a dream I had.
There are 18 overdubs of me singing on this one.
Lot's of vocal harmonies with a gospel feel.
If you're havin' a tough day, this song might help.
DID I TELL YOU I LOVE YOU-
This is a country song, and a love song written for my wife Katie and delivered as promised on Mother's Day 2007

SUMMERTIME SAMBA- (not included on the album)
A song to listen to on the beach in the sweet summertime. I never tried writing in this style, but I love the sound of Samba music,
so I gave it a try.

WHISKEY BOTTLE ARISTOTLE-
A song for anyone who has stayed up all night trying to solve the world's problems with a glass of whiskey in your hand.
DON'T GIVE UP! DON'T GIVE IN!
DON'T EVER LET THE BASTARDS GET YOU DOWN!
Recently remixed, with Frank Sarcia on drums.
CHEERS!!!
THE UKE SONG
I wrote this song in Saint Augustine, Fla, on a beautiful sunny day.
I sat in the sun with my new ukulele... ....meanwhile, back home in Boston, my wife was shoveling snow.
I had a lot of fun writing this song!
THREE THINGS (Everything I Need)
A Blues/Rock song with a taste of country. Lot's of slide guitar, harmonica and vocals on this one.
FAMILY, FRIENDS & MUSIC is what really matters...The rest is just scenery.
TIME SQUARE
After visiting ground zero, I went back to our hotel in Time Square and wrote this song.
I never did finish it.
